In accordance with R.S. 1:55, the court will observe the following legal holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr Day, Presidents Day, Earth Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Civil cases, whether contested or uncontested, are generally heard on Mondays and Thursdays during regular court weeks (non-jury weeks) in all parishes unless preempted by a legal holiday.
Criminal misdemeanor arraignments, motions and trials and felony arraignments and motions are heard on Wednesdays in Richland Parish and West Carroll Parish and on Tuesdays in Franklin Parish during regular court weeks unless preempted by a legal holiday.
Jury weeks are reserved for criminal petit jury trials, civil jury trials and special bench trial settings.
Protective order headings are generally held each week as follows: Tuesdays at 1:30 P.M. in West Carroll Parish, Wednesdays at 9:30 A.M. in Franklin Parish and Fridays at 9:30 A.M. in Richland Parish unless preempted by a legal holiday.
Juvenile, OCS, and FINS hearings are generally held each month as follows: Tuesdays at 9:30 A.M. in Richland Parish and Wednesdays at 9:30 A.M. in Franklin Parish during the first regular court week of each month and Wednesdays at 1:30 P.M. each regular court week in West Carroll Parish.
